Meta is preparing to unleash an AI agent that can book restaurants, order food, find dog sitters, and control a user’s Spotify playlist, according to an internal memo seen by Business Insider. The product, known internally as Project Hatch, is described as a personal agent that works continuously on behalf of users to improve their lives, health, relationships, and personal finances.
The memo outlines capabilities that set Hatch apart from conventional chatbots, including the ability to fill out forms, make purchases, and conduct deep research by interacting directly with apps such as email, calendar, Instagram, Spotify, and OpenTable. Users can customize the agent’s personality and permissions, naming it, shaping how it talks, and deciding what it pays attention to, with the system adjusting based on feedback when it gets something wrong.
Internal documents place Hatch’s launch in late August or early September, with Meta considering a tiered pricing structure that could see a premium subscription costing as much as $199.99 per month for higher usage limits. The launch aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s recent AI manifesto, in which he argued for distributing superintelligence widely rather than centralizing it, as Meta plans to spend between $130 billion and $145 billion on capital expenditures in 2026 to support its AI ambitions.
Hatch enters a crowded market where Google launched Gemini Spark earlier this year, while OpenAI and Anthropic also offer agents capable of controlling users’ computers. A Meta spokesperson declined to comment on the plans, leaving the tech world to watch closely as the company prepares to test the agent beyond its Meta Superintelligence Labs group.
