Hyperloop One, once a promising name in futuristic transportation, officially ceased operations at the end of 2023. While this might seem like the end of the hyperloop dream, efforts to develop this high-speed technology are still ongoing. In Switzerland, researchers successfully tested a 1/12th scale model of a hyperloop system. The test simulated a journey of 141.6 km, reaching an equivalent speed of 488.2 km/h, demonstrating that the concept is still being explored in other parts of the world.
The idea of hyperloop travel, first popularized by Elon Musk, continues to attract attention despite setbacks. While Hyperloop One’s closure is a major blow, other companies and research institutions are pushing forward. The technology still faces hurdles like infrastructure costs and regulatory approval, but its potential benefits, such as rapid intercity travel, keep the vision alive.
Although Hyperloop One has shut down, the dream of revolutionizing transportation isn’t completely over. New experiments and scaled tests indicate that engineers and scientists haven’t given up on the concept.
