Color -The color of the diamond is going to make a considerable amount of difference in how much you spend on it. The diamonds that are found at reputable stores are graded according to the amount of color that is available, with those that are colorless being the most prized. The letters that are used to grade the diamonds range from D, which is the most expensive, colorless diamond all the way through Z, which is one that has an obvious color to it. It is also possible for you to get diamonds that have a certain hue to them, such as brown, yellow or gray. These may also cost more than a lower quality diamond that was not meant to have color.

Clarity – The clarity of the diamond is decided according to how many blemishes and inclusions are included. You can reduce the clarity of the diamond to a certain extent to save money without sacrificing the bulk of the diamond to the naked eye.

Cut – The kind of the diamond is determined according to its shape, as well is its proportions. Some of the more popular cuts include round, pear and princess cut. The cut of the diamond is usually determined according to personal choice but it can make a difference on the cost of the diamond.

Carat – The carat is the measurement of the diamond. This is also something that is usually determined by personal choice but it also makes a considerable difference in the price. If you are going to purchase a high carat diamond, it may be necessary for you to talk someone about financing engagement rings instead of purchasing them with cash. It is also possible for you to save money by going slightly below a whole carat instead of going for the actual number.
