Singapore Changi : The Airport Everyone Wants to Visit

Reading Time : 2 minutes

Killing time at airports usually feels like a chore. It’s such a universal drag that there’s even a TikTok trend about speeding through terminals as fast as possible. But Singapore Changi Airport flips that idea on its head. Recently crowned the World’s Best Airport for the 13th time by Skytrax, it’s more like a luxurious playground for travelers than a waiting area.

At Changi, early check-in is encouraged—not just allowed—so passengers can drop off their bags up to 48 hours before departure and explore what’s essentially a vacation spot. Most people head straight to the 10-story Jewel mall, which drew 80 million visitors in 2024 alone. There’s also the famous Rain Vortex, a 40-meter-high indoor waterfall, and indoor gardens with butterflies flitting through the terminals.

The airport goes far beyond the basics with its spa options, in-house hotels, cinema, art exhibitions, and even a dinosaur-themed park. Changi isn’t just clean and efficient—it’s also delicious. It picked up awards for Best Airport Dining, Best Washrooms, and, of course, Best Airport in Asia. If you’re ever stuck there, you’re actually pretty lucky.

And they’re not stopping. With a $2 billion investment plan rolling out over the next six years, and a fifth terminal set to open in the 2030s, Changi is only getting more impressive. It’s hard to imagine what they’ll think of next—but whatever it is, it’ll probably win awards too.
